We hated the bloody thing, especially when some design flaws started showing up, with jams, parts breaking off, etc. It felt awkward on the parade ground too, with the only redeeming feature being that at least it was lighter to carry.

But, over the space of a few decades (!), somebody at MOD got their act together and it became an excellent bit of kit.

You don’t need to be a Veteran to buy one of these mugs. Anyone who is a fan of the SA80 can buy one.

This is a big, Veteran-sized, mug and not one of the cheap, fragile bits of kit available for £5 in many other online shops. You get what you pay for, and this will not disappoint.
